For what it's worth, this is a particularly exciting part for me to write. Quite a while before I started writing The Hole, I had an idea for a short story. I got a bit into the planning stage and then realized I could use it as the seed of a longer work. So put off writing that story and started in with the adventures of Elliot and Evajean. It's great fun to finally get back to that initial idea and write the tale told in the journal.
